Respected businessman Osahon Hosa Okunbo has been awarded the prestigious New Telegraph Newspaper’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year at a star-studded soirée held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.
The event, which drew Nigeria’s political and business elite, marked a significant moment in Okunbo’s illustrious career, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the country’s economic landscape.
The high-profile ceremony was graced by influential figures including Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and Adams Oshiomole, NNPC Group CEO Mr. Mele Kyari, and political stalwart Chief Bode George. The gathering underscored the impact Okunbo has had across multiple sectors of the Nigerian economy.
In his acceptance speech, Okunbo reflected on his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing purpose over accolades. “I never set out to chase recognition—I set out to build something real, something that mattered,” he said. “Entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting businesses; it’s about solving problems, creating opportunities, and making a lasting impact.”
With over 15 years of board and management experience, Okunbo has cemented his status as a transformative figure in Nigeria’s business sector. His extensive portfolio covers vital industries such as oil and gas services, facilities engineering, procurement, construction, hospitality, agriculture, and aviation. Under his leadership, his companies have executed projects worth over $4 billion and currently provide employment for more than 6,000 Nigerians.
A graduate of Manchester University with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Okunbo holds directorship positions in several high-profile companies, including Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Ltd, Delta Pacific Maritime Ltd, and Genesis Hydrocarbons Nigeria Ltd. He is also a key player in the development of the Egbolom field, the largest marginal field secured in the 2020 bid round.
Beyond his business ventures, Okunbo is deeply committed to social development through the Osa Okunbo Foundation, which focuses on education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure projects in Benin City, Edo State.
