SDNON Set for Annual Media Summit 2025
Preparations for the Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria (SDNON) Summit 2025 have reached their peak as the association finalizes arrangements for the highly anticipated event.
With the theme “Policy Shifts in Cyber Law and Taxation: What They Mean for the Media and Nigeria’s Economy,” the summit promises to be an engaging and insightful gathering. It will feature seasoned experts in finance, cybercrime, taxation, and public relations, who will provide in-depth analysis and practical perspectives on the evolving policy environment and its implications for the media landscape and the nation’s economy.
According to Mr. Wale Onifade, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the event, scheduled for November 13, 2025, at the LCCI Business District, Alausa, Lagos, will commence at 10:00 a.m.
Dr. Adeniyi Ifeatayo, President of SDNON, described the association as a collective of forward-thinking media professionals committed to shaping the future of journalism in Nigeria.
Dr. Ifetayo said “Together, we promote credibility, innovation, and collaboration in Nigeria’s digital media landscape,”.
He further noted that SDNON’s mission is to empower and unify digital newspaper owners in Nigeria by fostering ethical journalism, promoting innovation, and advocating for the rights and sustainability of digital media practitioners.
Also “Our vision is to be the leading voice and authority for digital news media in Nigeria—driving credibility, professionalism, and progressive impact in the digital journalism space, he added.

New Telegraph Award, Dinner Night: Ooni Is Royal Father Of The Day, Osoba Event Chair
The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has accepted to be the Royal Father of the Day at the New Telegraph Awards Night/ Dinner holding at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotels, Lagos this Friday.
That is as veteran Elder journalist and former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has also accepted to be the Chairman of the event.
The New Telegraph Awards Night/Dinner is a high octane event, where governors, captains of industry, banking and financial institutions and executives as well as public, private sector players and sports personalities would be honoured.
Nine state governors from across the country have confirmed their attendance at the event, with other awardees expressing delight and anticipation towards the event.
In a letter conveying his choice as the Royal Father of the Day, the Management of Daily Telegraph Publishing Company, publishers of the New Telegraph, Saturday and Sunday Telegraph titles informed the paramount ruler and the number one Yoruba king that his choice was borne out of his dedication to excellence and public good in his 10-year reign as the Paramount Ruler of the Yoruba Nation.
“Your Highness, it is important to let you know that you were chosen because of your position as not only the Paramount Ruler of one of the largest and homogenous nations in Nigeria, but also because of your dedication to service, excellence, reward and honesty in your over 10-year reign on the throne of your ancestors.
The letter was delivered to him personally by the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Mr Ayodele Aminu. Similarly, Aremo Osoba, a former Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Times and Grand Patron of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, was chosen because of his close association with his profession, several years after serving as governor.
Osoba is ever present in the activities of journalists and editors, despite being a leading political figure in the country.
According to Aminu, Osoba reflects the dream of not only journalists but every profession because he did not forget his roots and easily identifies with his colleagues, no matter the gap in age and experience.

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Distinguished Nigerians Mourn with Otunba Femi Davies Over Mother’s Passing
Former Governor of Ogun State and the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has extended his heartfelt condolences to veteran journalist and media icon, Otunba Femi Davies, following the death of his beloved mother, Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu (née Showemimo), who passed on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 78.
In a moving tribute, Senator Daniel described the late Deaconess as a virtuous matriarch and a woman of profound grace, faith, and character whose nurturing presence and moral uprightness shaped many lives beyond her immediate family.
“Your mother was more than a vessel of life; she was a beacon of strength, faith, and dignity. Her grace illuminated every path she walked, and her character left lasting impressions on all privileged to encounter her,” he stated.
Senator Daniel urged Otunba Davies to take solace in the impactful life his mother lived and the enduring legacy she left behind. “May you find true consolation in the fact that hers was a life well spent, and that she now rests peacefully, embraced by divine light,” he added.
Beyond Senator Daniel, a host of prominent personalities from across various sectors have also sympathized with Otunba Davies. They include former Lagos West Senator, Senator Ganiu Olanrewaju Solomon; Fuji music legends, K1 De Ultimate and Pasuma Wonder; Afro-Juju maestro, Sir Shina Peters; and respected engineer and philanthropist, Engr. Toyin Omotosho.
Others who paid tributes include Alhaji Olanrewaju Mohammed Masika, popularly known as Lamex; Alhaji Lukman Hamzat, the Babalaje of Yewaland; Chief Adewale Adeshina, Otunba Bestman Nze-Jumbo, media colleagues among several others who described the late Deaconess as a woman of virtue and rare influence.
The final journey of Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu will commence on Thursday, July 24, with a Service of Songs at Christ Baptist Church, located at 46 Akiwowo Street, off Jimoh Akinremi Street, Akowonjo, Dopemu, Lagos, starting at 5:00 p.m.
The burial service will be held the next day, Friday, July 25, at the same church, followed by interment at a private cemetery. A grand reception will take place afterward at the Conference Hotel, Presidential Boulevard, 1 Golf Resort Drive, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
The late Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu is remembered for her unwavering Christian faith, her commitment to family values, and the positive impact she made within her community.

The 88/93 Class Set of the Remo Secondary School Old Students Association (RSSOSA) hosted a spectacular surprise birthday celebration in honor of their National President, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking.
An Unforgettable Celebration at Marriott Hotel
The surprise event, held at the prestigious Marriott Hotel in Lagos, was a deeply emotional affair that left Aare Adetola visibly moved. Unbeknownst to him, planning for the event had been underway since January, with his wife playing a pivotal role in maintaining secrecy until the day of the celebration.
Amid an atmosphere of laughter, music, and heartfelt tributes, classmates reunited to honor their own, presenting Aare Adetola with gifts worth several millions of naira.

Adding to the magic of the evening, members of the 88/93 Set residing abroad—including alumni from the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States—joined virtually. Notable participants included Segun Osho, Rev. Fr. The flawless execution of the celebration was largely credited to the leadership of the Class Set Governor, Engr. Bola Owolabi Oladeinde, whose coordination and meticulous attention to detail ensured an unforgettable evening.

In an emotional address, Aare Adetola expressed deep gratitude to his classmates for the overwhelming show of love.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that such an elaborate and deeply moving celebration awaited me,” he said. “You have honored me beyond words, and I am eternally grateful. May God bless and replenish each of you for your sacrifices, generosity, and steadfast love.”
He also extended special thanks to his wife for her unwavering support and for keeping the elaborate plan a secret with admirable dedication.
